Polygonum multiflorum Thunb. Extract Stimulates Melanogenesis by Induction of COX2 Expression through the Activation of p38 MAPK in B16F10 Mouse Melanoma Cells

PME treatment increased expression of melanogenesis-related genes in B16F10 cells. (a) B16F10 cells were treated with the PME (10 μg/mL) for 6 h (for evaluation of MiTF, Trp1, and Trp2) or 24 h (for evaluation of tyrosinase). The mRNA levels of melanogenesis-related genes were measured by RT-qPCR. (b) B16F10 cells were treated with PME (2.5, 5, and 10 μg/mL) for 24 h. The protein levels of MiTF and tyrosinase were measured by western blotting. The relative expression levels of the proteins were normalized to that of β-actin and quantified using ImageJ.
