Proteomic Analysis and In Vivo Studies Reveal the Potential Gastroprotective Effects of CHCl3 and Aqueous Extracts of Ficus palmata

Figure 3

Gross appearance of gastric mucosa in rats: (A) pretreated with saline, 10 mL/kg (ulcer control). Severe injuries are seen, as ethanol (1 mL/100 g) produced excessive hemorrhagic necrosis of gastric mucosa pretreated with Ficus palmata extracts: (B, C, D) chloroform (Fp.CHCl3); (E, F, G) aqueous (Fp.Aq) at doses of 50, 100, and 300 mg/kg, respectively; and (H) pretreated with omeprazole (20 mg/kg). The injuries reduce with the increase of Fp.CHCl3 and Fp.Aq doses and omeprazole compared with ulcer control. At 300 mg/kg, Fp.CHCl3 and Fp.Aq showed the most efficacious gastroprotective action.
