Anti-Inflammatory and Anti-Vascular Leakage Effects by Combination of Centella asiatica and Vitis vinifera L. Leaf Extracts

Figure 5

Effect of CE, VVE, or CE-VVE combination on the NF-κB pathway in LPS-stimulated RAW264.7 cells. (a) Cells were cultured in 60 cm dishes and were pretreated with CE, VVE, or CE-VVE combination 1 h prior to LPS (500 ng/mL) treatment for 9 h. Protein expression levels of phosphorylated-IκB or NF-κB were analyzed by western blot using cytosolic and nuclear cell extract. (b) Cells were cultured in 60 cm dishes and were dose-dependently pretreated with a CE-VVE 1 : 3 combination (0, 50, 100, 150, and 200 μg/mL) 1 h prior to LPS (500 ng/mL) treatment for 9 h. Protein expression levels of phosphorylated-IκB or NF-κB were analyzed by western blot using each specific antibody. (c), (d) All results (n = 3) are expressed as the mean ± SD, , vs. LPS-stimulated cells. Abbreviations: CE, Centella asiatica extract; IκB, nuclear factor of kappa light polypeptide gene enhancer in B-cell inhibitor; LPS, lipopolysaccharide; NF-κB, nuclear factor kappa light chain enhancer of activated B cells; and VVE, Vitis vinifera (L.) extract.
