Modern Tools of Traditional Oriental Medicine

Description

Traditional Oriental Medicine has been used for hundreds of years. Until decades ago, Oriental Medicine doctors were using some traditional tools including acupuncture, moxibustion, and herbal medicine. Now, however, they are using modern tools including electroacupuncture, pharmacopuncture, and electric moxibustion and traditional ones.

For long, there was hardly any significant medical device in Oriental Medicine. Oriental Medicine doctors relied on their own sensors and diagnostic skills to get information of body and disease from patients. Nowadays, Oriental Medicine doctors can use exclusive medical devices such as pulse meter and tongue diagnosis system unlike the past. However, experimental and translational studies on these new methods are still needed.

In this special issue, we invite manuscripts, which may include original research articles and review articles concerning the use of modern tools in Oriental Medicine.

Potential topics include but are not limited to the following:

  • Improvement of tools in Oriental Medicine
  • Pharmacopuncture (Chinese Medicine Injection)
  • Electroacupuncture and electric moxibustion
  • Validation of treatment efficacy
  • Development of pulse meter and tongue diagnosis system
  • Experimental and translational studies on modern device of Oriental Medicine
