Herbal Medicines for Cardiovascular Diseases

Description

Cardiovascular diseases (CVDs) are the leading cause of mortality all over the world. Despite advances in prevention and treatment over the past 20 years, CVDs have increased dramatically and are being a major global health problem. Recently, with increasing enhancement of people’s awareness of self-care, herbal medicines are favored by people with CVDs all over the world for their unique advantages in preventing and curing diseases, rehabilitation, and health care. However, as an increasingly common form of complementary and alternative medicine (CAM) therapy, the role of herbal medicines in CVDs still needs more scientific and clinical data proving their efficacy and safety.

Therefore, we encourage investigators to contribute original research articles as well as review articles which will apply to systematic and high-quality research of herbal medicines for CVDs. We are particularly interested in traditional and newly discovered herbal medicines with evidence-based practice through scientific experiments to assess their roles for CVDs. Potential topics include, but are not limited to:

  • Randomized clinical trials of herbal medicines for CVDs
  • Systematic review and/or meta-analysis of herbal medicines for CVDs
  • In vivo or in vitro study to explore the exact mechanism of herbal medicines in CVDs
  • Recent developments in herbal medicines and CVDs
  • Toxicological effects associated with the use of herbal medicines for CVDs
  • Clinical practice of herbal medicines with either conventional medicines or western medicine for CVDs
  • Perspective or commentary article of herbal medicines for CVDs
