The control strains used in the PCR tests for the genus-specific primers. All primers were tested on the same DNA preparates, i.e., the amount of DNA used in the universal bacterial and Acidithiobacillus sp. 16S rRNA gene targeting reactions is the same. However, DNA concentration may vary between preparates of different species.
