Helicobacter pylori Exposure in Nausea and Vomiting of Pregnancy Increases Risk of Preterm Delivery

Positive H. pylori test results are associated with risk of vomiting in pregnancy and hyperemesis gravidarum in US populations. A positive H. pylori test result within 5 years preceding pregnancy is more frequently seen in patients with hyperemesis gravidarum or vomiting in pregnancy (odds ratio (OR)1.3-1.4). values represent the number of subjects with pregnancy and H. pylori test results in the University of Washington discovery and large multi-institutional validation cohorts. Results are considered significant if the 95% confidence interval does not include 1 (no risk).
