The Chilhuacle Chili (Capsicum annuum L.) in Mexico: Description of the Variety, Its Cultivation, and Uses

Development of the chilhuacle chili fruit. The fruit develops 7 days after pollination [DAP]. At the beginning of fruit development, the calyx covers a substantial portion of the outside of the fruit (15 DAP). Subsequently, the fruit acquires an elongated form, with a thick peduncle (20 to 27 DAP). When the fruit has achieved its final size and shape, the color is black or very deep purple and the calyx is immersed in the fruit (42 to 54 DAP). Developed fruits can be harvested between 60 and 78 DAP.
