Changes of various parameters in the wastewater during incubation with active sludge in the plastic tank. 50 L of the wastewater from a bean curd factory was mixed with 1 L of active sludge and aerated as described in Section 2.1. (a) Flocs () and BOD (), (b) amino acid () and protein (), and (c)NH4+ () and pH () were measured. Although not all parameters were always tested, the experiment was repeated several times as described in Figure 1. For the details about the method to determine the various parameters, see Section 2.4.2.
