Comparative Neuroprotective Effects of Dietary Curcumin and Solid Lipid Curcumin Particles in Cultured Mouse Neuroblastoma Cells after Exposure to Aβ42

Figure 4

SLCP prevented Aβ42-induced neuronal apoptosis. N2a cells were treated with Aβ42 (10 μM) for 24 h in presence and absence of dietary Cur and SLCP (1 μM) and apoptotic cell death was monitored with Annexin-V staining. (a) Images showed that apoptotic death was increased after exposure to Aβ42, whereas SLCP treatment prevented the neuronal death. (b) Morphometric analysis indicates that Aβ42 induces almost 40% neuronal apoptosis and treatment of different concentrations of Cur and/or SLCP decreased cell death significantly ( compared with Aβ42 alone). Green fluorescent indicates apoptotic death; red is nuclear stain. Arrows indicate apoptotic cells. Scale bar indicates 100 μm and is applicable to all other images.
