Monostatic (left side) image acquisition on two dates: the satellite (M) sends a signal (dotted line) and receives the echo (dashed line) during each overpass. Bistatic image acquisition generates two images in a single overpass with almost no time difference. One satellite serves as transmitter, and both serve as receiving antennas. The baseline of the slave satellite is desired to be on a circle around the master, see Figure 2.
