(b) On the mammogram the nodular/oval shaped densities (TDLUs) and the linear densities (larger milk ducts) are surrounded by radiolucent adipose tissue, making it possible to account for each nodular and linear density. The nodular densities are the radiologic images of the lobules of varying sizes, and the linear densities are ducts as seen on the 3D histology.
