High-resolution (20x) images (a) clearly show three cells. The corresponding low-resolution (7x) image (b) is visually ambiguous. The algorithm gives 3 cells, and the predicated image (c) well fits image data in (b). Note that 3 × 3 pixels in the high-resolution image correspond to 1 pixel in the low-resolution image and that the “grid” is not exactly maintained. The 2D region in (a) only approximates the region in (b).
