Contribution of Filopodia to Cell Migration: A Mechanical Link between Protrusion and Contraction

<table>Stationary filopodia are not associated with myosin II. Live cell time-lapse images of a cell cotransfected with myosin II-GFP and mCherry-T-plastin. Arrows show two different thickened filopodia before or after being pulled out of the lamellipodial network. Most stationary filopodia disappeared in the transition zone and could not be tracked moving into the lamella. None of the filopodia showed obvious association with myosin II-GFP.
