Characteristics of 4.1R interaction with band 3. Band 3 forms dimers in the membrane (a and b). The LRRRY sequence mediates interaction between monomers and is located in an α-helix. The band 3 binding sequence LEEDY, which mediates interaction with 4.1R, is located in the loop structure [15] (PDB accession no. 1hyn). There is no information about the stoichiometry of band 3 binding to 4.1R.
