Deadhesion dynamics of MDA-MB-231 cells on collagen- and fibronectin-coated surfaces at a theoretical density of 1 μg/cm2. (a) Media was removed and cells were washed with PBS prior to incubation with warm trypsin. Cells were imaged immediately upon addition of trypsin every 5 or 6 seconds at low magnification (20x) till cells rounded up but remained attached to the substrate. Scale bar = 100 m. (b) Deadhesion of the cells indicated by arrows was quantified by plotting normalized area as a function of time. The normalized data were fit to a Boltzmann equation to obtain the time constants and , as indicated next to the fits (lines).
