S1, S2, and S3 designate the first, second, and third supernatant fractions in the process of mitochondrial isolation, respectively, while N and Mt designate the precipitated fractions of the nuclei and mitochondria, respectively, (see Figure 1). Enzymatic digestion was carried out under the conditions of 0.120% (w/v) collagenase for 20 min with 50 sec homogenization.
