The Importance of the Prenyl Group in the Activities of Osthole in Enhancing Bone Formation and Inhibiting Bone Resorption In Vitro

Dose-dependent effects of 7-methoxycoumarin (a) and osthole (b) on the viability of rat bone marrow stromal cells (rBMSCs) and rat calverial osteoblasts (ROB). The cells were grown and treated with culture medium containing 3% FBS and indicated concentrations of 7-methoxycoumarin and osthole. The cell viability of rBMSCs and ROB were measured by MTT assay for 48 h. The data represented three experiments and were shown as the mean ± SD of sextuplicate wells. , represent significant differences between the drug-supplemented groups and the control.
