Metformin prevents high glucose-induced miR-34a expression in RMCs. RMCs were pre-incubated with 50 μmol/L metformin for 1 hour before stimulating with normal glucose (NG, 5.5 mmol/L glucose) or high glucose (HG, 30 mmol/L glucose) for 24 hours. versus RMCs cultured with normal glucose media. ^# versus RMCs cultured with high glucose media. mRNA expression was determined by quantitative real-time PCR.
