Distribution of CaMKs in cell compartments. The confidence values for each cell compartment are indicated. The highest confidence for proteins of multifunctional CaMKs is in cytosol and nucleus, which are therefore assumed to be the subcellular compartments richest in CaMKs. With the exception of endoplasmic reticulum reaching confidence value 4 for CaMIIβ, CaMKIIγ, and CaMKδ, the other organelles are at level 1, the lowest confidence level. Confidence values of cellular compartments are obtained from the GeneCards-the human gene database (https://www.genecards.org/) [11].
