Supplementary Material

We summarized the basic statistics for uORFs in human transcriptome (NCBI build37.3). Table 1.a shows the number of appearances of uORF-like sequences which contains AUG in 5′ UTRs in terms of mRNAs and genes. Also, we separated out two distinctive uORF-like sequences with matching termination codon in 5′ UTRs or without matching termination codon in 5′ UTRs. The detailed information for these two cases is listed in Table 1.b. Finally, Table 1.c shows how many uORF-like sequences are appeared on an individual 5′ UTR of each mRNA.
