Numerical Simulation of the Time Evolution of Small-Scale Irregularities in the F-Layer Ionospheric Plasma

The calculated spatial distributions of the relative decrease of the electron concentration, ( 𝑛 0 βˆ’ 𝑛 𝑒 ) / 𝑛 0 in the plane perpendicular to the magnetic field. The normalized distances, X / πœ† 0 𝐷 𝑒 and Y / πœ† 0 𝐷 𝑒 , that is, the distances in units of the Debye length, πœ† 0 𝐷 𝑒 , from the central point of the simulation region are shown on the horizontal ( 𝐗 ) and vertical ( 𝐘 ) axes. The results, obtained for the second situation when the temporal evolution of the initially created irregularity was studied, are given for the following moments: (a) 𝑑 = 0 , (b) 𝑑 = 𝑇 𝑝 𝑒 , (c) 𝑑 = 2 . 2 β‹… 𝑇 𝑝 𝑒 , (d) 𝑑 = 3 β‹… 𝑇 𝑝 𝑒 , (e) 𝑑 = 4 . 4 β‹… 𝑇 𝑝 𝑒 , and (f) 𝑑 = 1 4 . 0 9 β‹… 𝑇 𝑝 𝑒 .
