Angiotensin-(1-7)-Mediated Signaling in Cardiomyocytes

Schematic illustration of ACE2 modulation in cardiomyocytes by different molecules. Ang II, and ET-1 through MAPKK1 activation, and aldosterone lead to ACE2 mRNA downregulation. To date no reported effects of Ang-(1-7) on ACE2 levels have been demonstrated, although this peptide is capable of antagonizing Ang II and ET-1 effects on ACE2 mRNA.
