Typical imbalance of cardiac autonomic tones in the angiotensin-dependent hypertensive mouse. The cardiovagal tone is represented by the tachycardia observed following the administration of the muscarinic blocker atropine, and the cardiac sympathetic tone is represented by the bradycardia observed after administering the -adrenergic blocker atenolol. The heart rate after the double blockade indicates the intrinsic heart rate.
