Parameters measured to characterize the model confirm previous observations: the body weight was slightly reduced in SHRLN, kidney weight was not modified but 24h proteinuria and protein/creatinine ratio were increased indicating renal dysfunction. Left ventricular hypertrophy was visible in SHR but was more pronounced in SHRLN as shown by its normalized weight. Results are expressed as mean ± SEM. significantly different (P < 0.05) compared to WKY; #significantly different (P < 0.05) compared to SHR basal.
