Synthesis of interferon by the infiltrated T cells. (a) The infiltrated T cells were recovered and cultured for 16 hours in the presence of brefeldin 1. The cells were permeabilised, and interferon was determined by cytofluorometry, as was CD4 and CD8. The gate was set for CD4+ or CD8+, respectively. Up to 90% of cells contained interferon (b) Data of 7 patients are summarised.
