treB and treC are trehalose-specific genes. The transcription of several genes was considerably decreased in the mutant in comparison with the wild type ATCC 13124; the data presented represent those obtained in different experiments. The expression of topoisomerase genes (gyr and top) and response regulator gene (revR) was not markedly changed. Pfo, which was also downregulated, was reported previously [28].
