We determine the solutions <mml:math alttext="$f:(0, \infty) \rightarrow [0,\infty)$" xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML"><mml:mi>f</mml:mi><mml:mo>:</mml:mo><mml:mrow><mml:mo>(</mml:mo><mml:mrow><mml:mn>0</mml:mn><mml:mo>,</mml:mo><mml:mi>&#8734;</mml:mi></mml:mrow><mml:mo>)</mml:mo></mml:mrow><mml:mo>&#8594;</mml:mo><mml:mrow><mml:mo>[</mml:mo><mml:mrow><mml:mn>0</mml:mn><mml:mo>,</mml:mo><mml:mi>&#8734;</mml:mi></mml:mrow><mml:mo>)</mml:mo></mml:mrow></mml:math> of the functional equation <mml:math alttext="$f (x + f(x)y) = f(x)f(y)$" xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML"><mml:mi>f</mml:mi><mml:mrow><mml:mo>(</mml:mo><mml:mrow><mml:mi>x</mml:mi><mml:mo>+</mml:mo><mml:mi>f</mml:mi><mml:mrow><mml:mo>(</mml:mo><mml:mi>x</mml:mi><mml:mo>)</mml:mo></mml:mrow><mml:mi>y</mml:mi></mml:mrow><mml:mo>)</mml:mo></mml:mrow><mml:mo>=</mml:mo><mml:mi>f</mml:mi><mml:mrow><mml:mo>(</mml:mo><mml:mi>x</mml:mi><mml:mo>)</mml:mo></mml:mrow><mml:mi>f</mml:mi><mml:mrow><mml:mo>(</mml:mo><mml:mi>y</mml:mi><mml:mo>)</mml:mo></mml:mrow></mml:math> that are continuous at a point <mml:math alttext="$a &#62; 0$" xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML"><mml:mi>a</mml:mi><mml:mo>&#62;</mml:mo><mml:mn>0</mml:mn></mml:math> such that <mml:math alttext="$f(a) &#62; 0$" xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML"><mml:mi>f</mml:mi><mml:mrow><mml:mo>(</mml:mo><mml:mi>a</mml:mi><mml:mo>)</mml:mo></mml:mrow><mml:mo>&#62;</mml:mo><mml:mn>0</mml:mn></mml:math>. This is a partial solution of a problem raised by Brzd&#281;k.
