We give a necessary condition for a set in <mml:math alttext="$L_p(\Omega)$" id="E2" xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML"><mml:msub><mml:mi>L</mml:mi><mml:mi>p</mml:mi></mml:msub><mml:mrow><mml:mo>(</mml:mo><mml:mi>Ω</mml:mi><mml:mo>)</mml:mo></mml:mrow></mml:math> spaces <mml:math alttext="$(1\ltp\lt\infty)$" id="E3" xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML"><mml:mrow><mml:mo>(</mml:mo><mml:mrow><mml:mn>1</mml:mn><mml:mo>&lt;</mml:mo><mml:mi>p</mml:mi><mml:mo>&lt;</mml:mo><mml:mi>∞</mml:mi></mml:mrow><mml:mo>)</mml:mo></mml:mrow></mml:math> to be self-extremal that partially extends our
previous results to the case of <mml:math alttext="$L_p$" id="E4" xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML"><mml:msub><mml:mi>L</mml:mi><mml:mi>p</mml:mi></mml:msub></mml:math> spaces. Examples of self-extremal sets in <mml:math alttext="$L_p(\Omega)\ (1 \lt p \lt \infty)$" id="E5" xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML"><mml:msub><mml:mi>L</mml:mi><mml:mi>p</mml:mi></mml:msub><mml:mrow><mml:mo>(</mml:mo><mml:mi>Ω</mml:mi><mml:mo>)</mml:mo></mml:mrow><mml:mrow><mml:mo>(</mml:mo><mml:mrow><mml:mn>1</mml:mn><mml:mo>&lt;</mml:mo><mml:mi>p</mml:mi><mml:mo>&lt;</mml:mo><mml:mi>∞</mml:mi></mml:mrow><mml:mo>)</mml:mo></mml:mrow></mml:math> are also given.
