Chopped scans (alternating dark and lit conditions) for (a) bare ZnO nanowires. As can be seen by the linear sweep, hydrothermally grown ZnO nanowires exhibit undesirable side reactions, which obscure photocurrent and compromise stability of the device. In contrast, (b) 1000-cycle TiO₂ shows no such reactions and significant difference between on/off conditions.
