Compositing Semiconductor Photocatalysts and their Microstructure Modulation

Description

Photocatalytic materials have attracted increasing interest owing to the potentialapplications on solving global energy and environmental problems. However, the rapidrecombination of photogenerated charge carriers and the limited spectral response rangegreatly restricted their practical applications. Compositing semiconductor photocatalysts, by combining semiconductors with other materials, can effectively solve the aboveproblems and improve the photocatalytic activities. Moreover, it also provides a way todevelop an efficient photocatalyst by tailoring the band gaps and band positions to meetthe requirements for specific applications. The microstructures of photocatalysts alsogreatly affect their photocatalytic performances. Therefore, it has become a hot topicin photocatalysis on the synthesis, photocatalytic characterization, and microstructuremodulation of compositing semiconductor photocatalysts.

We invite investigators to contribute original research articles as well as review articlesthat will stimulate the continuing efforts to understand fabrication of highly efficientcompositing semiconductor photocatalysts, the interfacial electron transfer process, andthe effects of particle size, shape, and morphologies on photocatalytic activities. We areparticularly interested in articles describing the new prepartion method of compositingsemiconductor photocatalysts and investigating the relationship between microstructure andphotocatalytic properties. Potential topics include, but are not limited to:

  • Recent developments in compositing semiconductor photocatalysts
  • Synthesis of nanostructured compositing semiconductors
  • Noble metal/semiconductor composites and plasmonic photocatalysts
  • Relationship between photocatalytic properties and microstructure modulation
  • Interfacial charge separation mechanism
  • Theoretical investigations of compositing semiconductor photocatalysts
  • Characterization of compositing semiconductor photocatalysts
  • Energetic and environmental applications of compositing semiconductor photocatalysts
