Solar Energy and PV Systems in Smart Cities

Description

A PV system on the rooftop is an easy and cost-effective way to independently fulfill a part of own electricity demand, reduce the electric bill, generate savings, contribute to the exploitation of renewable energy sources, and contribute to the environmental preservation by reducing the greenhouse gas emissions. Such an opportunity is evidently reserved to those users which have ample space for installing a PV system; on the contrary, it is denied to those users which, as an example, live in apartment building. For the latter, the Smart Cities represent a solution.

Investigators are invited to contribute original research articles as well as review articles that will stimulate the development of feasible and new idea, models, mechanisms, techniques, pathways, and policies to be adopted in Smart Cities so as to offer to all citizen the same opportunities in the pair of renewable energy source exploitation and sustainable development. Welcome are also papers that explore the adoption of PV systems in rural area at the service of heat and power energy storage systems installed in apartments and residential building.

Potential topics include but are not limited to the following:

  • Design, management, and sizing of PV systems combined with distributed or decentralized electric or heat energy storage systems
  • Power electronics for PV and batteries energy storage systems
  • Recent developments in small power High Concentration PV systems for residential buildings
  • Building-integrated PV and High Concentration PV systems, new idea, and best practice
  • Local and regional energy strategies, communities, pathways, and policies for the solar energy and the energy storage
  • Solar energy and energy storage in energy transitions and Smart Cities
