Charge and Spin Currents in Ferromagnet-Insulator-Superconductor Tunneling Junctions Using Hg-1223 High- Superconductor

Figure 2

Density of states (DOS) (states/eVunit cell) calculated for the high- superconductor . Energy (eV) is measured from Fermi level . Here note that the electronic structure of is obtained by hole-doping into that of . (a) is the total density of states (TDOS). (b), (c), (d), (e), and (f) are sum of partial density of states (PDOS) of respective atoms, namely, those are that of 2 Hg, Ba, Ca, Cu and O atoms, respectively. For example, the DOS of Cu: 3d drawn in (e) has been obtained by adding the Cu: 3d PDOSs of six Cu atoms (Cu1 to Cu6) shown in Figure 1. Here note that the Cu: 3d PDOS of the respective Cu atom is made by adding the five PDOSs for Cu 3d{xy}, 3d{yz}, 3d{zx}, and orbitals. The present figure clearly shows that the states near the are made from Cu 3d and O 2p orbitals shown in (e) and (f).
