Mathematical and Numerical Modeling of Information Dissemination in Mobile Networks

Description

Driven by the advancements of various wireless communication and networking technologies, such as mobile ad hoc networks (MANETs) and delay tolerant networks (DTNs), mobile social networking and its incorporation with clouds-based infrastructure have been made possible and have attracted extensive interest from both academic and industry. Information dissemination is among the most critical tasks to enable efficient control and management over distributed mobile nodes. To achieve efficient and effective information dissemination, it requires rigorous mathematical modeling and numerical simulation on user mobility and interconnectivity, in order to gain sufficient understanding on the temporal-spatial relationship between network entities in mobility.

This special issue aims to provide a platform for researchers and practitioners to contribute with original research and review articles that present the state-of-the-art research outcomes, practical results, latest findings, and future evolutions of mathematics in mobility and networking. Potential topics include, but are not limited to:

  • Mathematical modeling of information dissemination in mobile networks
  • Modeling of localization estimation in stochastic complex networks
  • Optimization methods for the control of information dissemination in mobile networks
  • Numerical analysis of temporal/spatial relationship patterns for specific mobile applications
  • Methods for improving efficiency or accuracy of communication technologies for information dissemination
  • Multiscale or adaptive algorithms and implementation in mobility and networking
  • Computational models of communication mechanisms for mobile networks, such as unicast, multicast, geocast, broadcast in delay/disruption tolerant networking, mobile/vehicle ad hoc networks, and mobile sensor networks
  • Numerical analysis of information dissemination for mobile applications, such as physical social networks, ubiquitous computing, traffic information dissemination, location-based services, mobile commerce, mobile learning, and health-care applications
  • Information dissemination to support network virtualization and clouds-based applications
