A typical intersection with four connected links is shown in this illustration. Links (a), (c), (e), and (g) are inflow links of this intersection. Drivers on each link have three choices to continue their path: left, right, and straight forward. However, there are four inflow links, each of which has three possible destination links at intersection. Accordingly, an intersection with four connected link provides 12 directions.
