Pulsed Current-Voltage-Induced Perturbations of a Premixed Propane/Air Flame

Figure 4

This data sequence details the effect of variable voltage-current on flame perturbation. As the applied voltage is increased from 870 V (with 205 μA current) up to +2.7 kV (with 353 μA current) the level of flame reaction zone perturbation also rises eventually leading to flame pinch off. All images were taken with a 4 ms wide voltage pulse applied to a Φ = 1.1 flame with the same time delay (2 ms) from the end of the applied voltage. The white box in the upper left corner of each image is 5 mm by 5 mm.
