Advantages and disadvantages of profile control of polymeric microspheres.

Advantages

At the initial stage of polymeric microspheres injection, the microspheres are very small and can enter the deep formation smoothly with the solution. They can absorb water and expand in the water. They have the characteristics of migration, plugging, elastic deformation, remigration, and replugging in the pore throat of the reservoir, and they have strong temperature resistance and salt resistance

Disadvantages

At present, the industrial polymeric microsphere is characterized by high strength, poor deformability, poor injectivity, ease of staying near the wellbore, and ease of shearing damage after water absorption and expansion, which restricts its plugging effect
