Osteogenic Activity of Lupeol Isolated from Clinacanthus nutans Lindau: Activity and Mode of Action

Lupeol enhanced expression of several marker genes for osteoblast differentiation. Osteoblast cells were cultured in 6-well plates at a density of 5 × 105 cells/mL in each well. Cells were treated with different concentrations of lupeol for 3 days before RNA extraction by using Trizol reagent (Invitrogen, Life Technology). cDNA synthesized using superscript VILO MasterMix kit (Invitrogen, Thermo Fisher Scientific, Netherlands). GAPDH served as a house-keeping gene for normalization of the test genes. Each bar indicates means ± SD, n = 3;  ≤ 0.05;  ≤ 0.01.
