Biomass-Derived Functional Materials and their High-Efficiency Utilizations
Description
Biomass resources include wood and wood waste, agricultural crops and their waste byproducts, municipal solid waste, animal waste, waste from food processing and aquatic plants and algae, which are widely used to develop functional materials for high-efficiency utilizations.
Due to biomass being green, renewable, from a wide variety of sources and low in cost, as well as bionic structure, the use of biomass to design functional materials with high performance has always been a hot research topic especially in the areas of energy, environmental conservation, catalysis, microwave absorption, and solar steam generation devices. There are many opportunities for discovering more possible utilizations of biomass and designing high-performance functional materials which are scalable for industrial processes. Especially in utilizing the characteristics of pore structures and the bionic functions of biomass materials with biodiversity, this area of research has shown continual progress.
This Special Issue welcomes original research articles exploring the preparation and application of biomass-derived functional materials. Particularly, novel preparation methods, biomass-derived composites, and application fields are welcome. We also welcome review articles and studies considering different preparation methods, biomass sources, and application fields of biomass-derived functional materials.
