Value-Added Enzyme Technologies for the Processing of Agriculture and Food Industries By-Products and Wastes

Call for Papers

Enzymatic reactions hold great potential to reshape the world, through the processing of agricultural and food industrial wastes, by creating sustainable by-products and favoring environmental rehabilitation. Therefore, the development of technologies for establishing successful enzyme-based processes has been very attractive in recent years to ensure sustainable and environmentally friendly waste products. Agricultural and food industries by-products and wastes can be utilized for manufacturing specialty and commodity chemicals which may lead to a reduction in the dependency on fossil fuels. Understanding the chemistry of these by-products and developing novel processing techniques have never been so important. This special issue is intended to attract cutting edge original research and recent advances on novel technologies applied to agriculture and food wastes as well as the processing of by-products.

We invite investigators to contribute original research articles and well documented review articles that summarize the current state-of-the-art in such areas. We expect that these researches will stimulate the continuing efforts to explore enzyme-based processes to reshape the global energy future.

Potential topics include but are not limited to the following:

  • Novel enzyme technologies in industrial waste processing
  • Chemical methods utilizing agricultural and food processing wastes
  • Environmental protection via biological waste treatment
  • Biomass and feedstock utilization of agroindustrial residues
  • Emerging technologies in biocatalysis and fermentation
  • Studies on consolidated bioprocessing techniques
  • Nanotechnology in agricultural and industrial bioprocessing
