Altered Regulation of Contraction-Induced Akt/mTOR/p70S6k Pathway Signaling in Skeletal Muscle of the Obese Zucker Rat
Contraction-induced GSK-3 (Ser 9) phosphorylation is altered with insulin resistance. The basal (control) and contraction-induced phosphorylation of the GSK-3 in Plantaris muscles from lean (LNZ) and obese (OSXZ) Zucker rats at 0-, 1-, and 3-hours after HFES. Phosphorylation of GSK-3 was determined by immunodetection of phosphorylation on Ser 9. Relative abundance represents ratio of phosphor to total protein. An asterisk () indicates significant difference (P < .05) from the control animals, and a dagger () indicates significant difference (P < .05) from corresponding time points across the animal models.
