Sorbitol levels are expressed as μg/mL RBC. Sorbitol levels were measured in RBC incubated in the presence of normal (5.5 mM) and high (55 mM) glucose for 3 h. ∗indicates a statistically significant difference from the control group and #indicates a statistically significant difference from the glucose 55 mM group (𝑃<0.05).
