The PI3K/Akt Signaling Pathway Mediates the High Glucose-Induced Expression of Extracellular Matrix Molecules in Human Retinal Pigment Epithelial Cells

High glucose induced the mRNA expression of fibronectin, collagen IV, and laminin in RPE cells. RPE cells were exposed to NG (5.6 mM) or HG (25 mM) for 24 h before measuring the mRNA expression of fibronectin, collagen IV, and laminin.
