Aldose Reductase Inhibitor Protects against Hyperglycemic Stress by Activating Nrf2-Dependent Antioxidant Proteins

AR inhibitor induces the expression of Nrf2 and its dependent antioxidant enzymes in STZ-induced diabetic mice tissues. STZ-induced diabetic mice were treated without or with fidarestat as described in Section 2. An equal amount of proteins from the heart and kidney homogenates were subjected to Western blot analysis using specific antibodies against Nrf2, HO1, and NQO1. Fold changes were determined after normalizing with loading control, GAPDH. A representative blot from three independent analyses is shown. when compared with control, and # when compared with the HG-treated group.
