IDF definition of metabolic syndrome (IDF, 2006).
According to IDF, for a person to be defined as having cardiometabolic risk, the person must have a WC of >90 cm for men and >80 cm for women or BMI > 30 kg/m2 and any two of the following.
Dyslipidaemia
Raised triglyceride, TG
≥1.7 mmol/L or specific treatment for this lipid abnormality
Reduced HDL-C
<1.03 mmol/L in males <1.29 mmol/L in females or specific treatment for this lipid abnormality
Hypertension
Systolic blood pressure
≥130 mmHg
Diastolic blood pressure
≥85 mmHg or treatment of previously diagnosed hypertension
Raised fasting plasma glucose
(FPG) ≥ 5.6 mmol/L or previously diagnosed diabetes
