Green Coffea arabica Extract Ameliorates Testicular Injury in High-Fat Diet/Streptozotocin-Induced Diabetes in Rats

Histopathological alterations of testicular tissue following green coffee water extract (50 and 100 mg kg-1) or metformin (200 mg kg-1) in high-fat diet/streptozotocin-induced diabetes in rats. Normal testicular architecture in the control and green coffee water extract including normal seminiferous tubule structure with normal spermatogenesis (a, b). In contrast, high-fat diet/streptozotocin diabetic rats exhibited fat droplets between the tubules (blue star) and degeneration of spermatogenic cells alongside vacuolated patches within the seminiferous tubules (red star) (c). However, pretreatment with metformin or green coffee water extract (50 and 100 mg kg-1) reversed the histological alterations in response to high-fat diet/streptozotocin diabetes (d–f). .
