Using CO2 to Determine Inhaled Contaminant Volumes and Blower Effectiveness in Several Types of Respirators

Flows and volumes for the Racal AirMate 3 loose-fitting PAPR. Breathing machine flow was sinusoidal with exhalation in the positive direction. Blower flow rate changed hardly at all. Corresponding contaminant volumes were calculated as the CO2 concentration in the exhaled air times the integral of the breathing machine exhalation flow rate.
