Data and Intelligence in Cyber Health

This issue is now closed for submissions.

Description

Cyber health or more commonly known as digital health are used in many medical health care applications with more powerful communication, computation, and security capabilities than today's counterparts. For instance, various types of input can collect information from patients at home and then communicate with a third-party cloud server, which has more powerful computation capability with deep learning models to diagnose and advise treatment methods. The board scope of cyber health includes categories such as mobile health, health information technology (IT), wearable devices, telehealth and telemedicine, and personalized medicine. In recent times, population aging (increasing the median age of a population or an alteration in the age structure of a population) emerges as the cornerstone problem for not only developed countries but also developing countries.

Health problems, environmental pollution as well as changes in lifestyle (unhealthy eating habits, lack of exercise, and general mental stress) represent considerable challenges. The latest cutting-edge science and technology have been applied to be used as potential measures to supply health and medical support for the elderly population and the people who are suffering from health problems. The rapid development of big data, machine learning, multimedia, the Internet of things, and intelligent medical fields based on data and artificial intelligence is providing relevant solutions to a certain extent and advancing research. At the moment, research in related fields is carried out based on health data collection via high-precision sensors, expansion of data dimensions through internet-of-things technology, and strengthening of systems. This helps further process and analyze the data, which makes data analysis more accurate. It also significantly improves efficiency in computer vision, such as monitoring and diagnosis in a more reliable manner than the human brain by combining expert systems and remote operations via multimedia technology (VR and robotic hand). These developments have made a profound and transformative impact on traditional medicine and health.

The aim of this Special Issue is to bring together original research articles and review articles focusing primarily on healthcare systems using emerging cyber-based computational intelligence technologies proposed for medical imaging and health information processes. We hope that this Special Issue highlights the progress and achievements of cyber health equipped with artificial intelligence and the application of cyber health in medical imaging and health informatics.

Potential topics include but are not limited to the following:

  • Cyber health data solutions
  • Cyber health intelligent detection and evaluation of smart healthcare
  • Application of robots in active assisted living (AAL) environments
  • Security architectures and protection mechanisms for smart healthcare
  • Machine learning-based healthcare models and applications
  • Real-time data processing for cyber health
