PPD (a) and ESAT6 (b) specific IFNγ secreting lymphocytes in blood and sputum of patients with active and non-active TB. Sputum PPD-specific lymphocytes were significantly lower in the active TB group compared to the non-active TB group . M. tuberculosis antigen-specific lymphocytes were more frequent in sputum compared to blood.
