Confluent cultures of gingival keratinocytes were treated with IL-1β either alone or in combination with glycine to induce inflammatory conditions in vitro. Glycine administration to inflammatory challenged gingival keratinocytes resulted in a decreased proinflammatory cytokine mRNA expression of both IL6 (a) and IL8 (b).
